Club History
Star of the Laune AC was formed in 2000 after Beaufort, Killorglin and Star of the Sea (Cromane) amalgamated.
The club caters for juvenile senior and masters and is heavily involved in cross country events.
Star of the Laune organises cross country events as well as two road races, the Charles o Shea Beaufort Run 10km on Jan 1st each year and Kilgobnet 4 mile every August bank holiday.
Charles O Shea from Kilgobnet was one of the leading cross country and road runners in Kerry in the 1950s and 60s.
He also played football with Beaufort for many years. He died in the late 70s.
John Scully , at a meeting of Beaufort A.C., first suggested holding a race in his memory and it was organised for Jan. 1st 1989.
